Yes it is the government because it monitors hospitals
(Lapson(Uganda) at July 8, 2017 12:57 pm)
It is the responsibility of the people because they are ones who pay taxes
(Ivan(Uganda) at July 8, 2017 12:59 pm)
It is the responsibility of the doctors and nurses if they are trained well to see they improve care of the patients because they are responsible for the patients when they are sick
(John(Uganda) at July 8, 2017 1:01 pm)
The hospital in charges should be responsible for reducing isolation because they are experienced in their fields
(Ali(Uganda) at July 8, 2017 1:18 pm)
It is the responsibility of the government because they sometimes build these hospitals for people
(hamida(Uganda) at July 8, 2017 1:21 pm)
On that note,we think it must be 50% 50% because citizens pay tax but being equal is because the tax is used to do many other projects
(LiveBeatsCrew at July 13, 2017 9:47 am)
I think its the Government’s responsibilities though they dont act proeprly to ensure that people get the care and are not isolated, after establishing these infrastructures forisntance the hospitals they should make sure that the civil servants are equipped with skills to better use these infrastuctures to benefit the people who come to access the services offered, they should develop laws that focusing punishing or sacking any civil servant who unproffessionally behaves in an awful manner to the clients who come to access the services that are offered to the patients in the hospitals. Am pretty much certain that if this is done then there might be an improved care and reduced isolation to the people coming to access the services offered at the hospitals.
(Alfred(ECUADOR) at July 27, 2017 6:30 am)
Its the responsibility of the government because the government is people
(Brain(Ugnada) at July 27, 2017 11:03 am)
I agree with Lapson on the point that the Government is responsible, yes even Ivan from Uganda has a good point when he says that the nurses and doctors should know their role i.e provide care and avoid isolation, by doing this they will be able to save more lives.
(Alfred(ECUADOR) at July 27, 2017 11:20 am)
ivan i dont agree with you because we pay taxes and they are supposed to carter for our medical bills
(henry(uganda) at July 27, 2017 11:24 am)
It should be the grevernment because it makes sure medicine and care is given to people
(Richard(Ugnada) at July 27, 2017 11:26 am)
Access to high quality healthcare should be a universal human right. This should be ensured by the government by implementing nationwide standards that hospitals have to adhere to. There should be an emphasis on patient centred care as opposed to task centred care.
(Alex (U.K.) at July 27, 2017 11:28 am)
I think it is the responsibility of the government. In my opinion, it is out of the hands of hospital staff because not enough money from the government is being used in hospitals. Sometimes, qualified doctors and nurses are unable to care for patients properly because of a lack of staff and equipment. However, the government should use the taxes that are paid to them to invest in hospitals and care facilities.
(Helena at July 27, 2017 11:34 am)
Healthcare should be invested in and open to all. Children on the streets are more at risk of injury and infection and should be treated.
(Retrak at July 27, 2017 11:46 am)
Yes if there is a chance even health service providers taught youth friendly approaches to children living on the streets

We are not the #government but the government should be the servants of the people. We need to make it clear to government what we want.
(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 12:53 pm)
Patients and the attendants should promote hygiene too besides the hospital cleaner so as to have a clean healthy environment that could also contribute to the good healing of the patients.
(Yamima (Uganda) at July 27, 2017 1:06 pm)
We have to adopt to the government policies say if the government call for immuinsation, people should respond to the call.

its the health workers practicing and promoting isolation in hospitals because they accept bribes from the rich who always want to be worked on first yet they have come late for medical services. therefore the health workers should take up the responsibility of stopping isolation and also learn to work following their work ethics. maybe the government can give a hand by arresting those who are not being professional.

Yeah, isolation is common in Uganda as well.
(Okello(Uganda) at July 27, 2017 11:59 am)
Isolation is common because most health workers dont have the heart for what they are doing thay are after money only
(Ibra (Uganda) at July 27, 2017 12:10 pm)
True but if advocacy organisations come up with some independent policies and implement them, isolation can easily be stopped.
(Faisal (Uganda) at July 27, 2017 12:14 pm)
But would multiple policies lead to different levels of care depending which #advocacy organisation is working in the particular area?
(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 12:21 pm)

Yes, its Government’s responsibility to ensure that her citizens are getting equal health facilities. Once such habits are observed, then citizens can easily loose trust in their Government or leaders which sometimes force people to strike as a way of expressing their feelings.
(Anonymous at July 27, 2017 12:25 pm)
It would be easy for the Government to provide equal care but the problem especially in the developing countries is corruption and overstaying in power. This results some officials not to be punished when caught corrupting because one wants to stay in power. Funny enough instead, they promote that corrupt person to another department or ministry.

children on the streets only get health care from street connected organizations but if a child does not belong to any organization it means they don’t get medical care.

In Ecuador the government has hospitals for free. However it is so difficult to have an appointment and medicine. There are private services too.

How could we improve the healthcare being offered for children on the streets?
(Nicola (UK) at July 27, 2017 12:14 pm)
Retrak employ nurses and offer children at our centres the medical checks & treatment they need.
(Retrak at July 27, 2017 12:21 pm)
I believe there should be more in lpace (whether government funded or community led) to support those most vulnerable. If youve no friends or family to help its critical that there is something in place to act as a support mechanism
(Emma Reynolds (UK) at July 27, 2017 12:23 pm)
For children who have suffered trauma on the street it is important they feel comfortable and can trust that they will be cared for.
(Retrak at July 27, 2017 12:30 pm)
Emma, absolutely agree! We are working at all levels so children on the street are recognised and get the support they need.
(Retrak at July 27, 2017 12:31 pm)

Yes I think it is the government’s responsibility, but there needs to be better links between policy and practice in some countries. Government’s often promise more on paper than in provided in practice. Tax money, or national insurance contributions that are given to provide for these services need to be allocated effectively rather than squandered.

Im going to be controversial here. The planet is overpopulated partially because of improved healthcare. Maybe we need to allow more natural selection to take place and then we wont kill all the creatures on the planet in our selfish need to expand and survive as humans. So I think we should reduce hospitals and not be trying to improve them

So you mean we should have some deliberate killings in terms of not caring for the sick poor?
(Sam at July 27, 2017 11:13 am)
Human beings are forever looking to improve and develop themselves and the world around them, which is a positive thing. I don’t think that the way to deal with over population and environmental harm is to leave people to die. Instead, we should be continuing trying to innovate and find solutions that work for both people and the planet.
(Nicola (UK) at July 27, 2017 11:39 am)
its not deliberate killing – its choosing not to make healthy thats the difference

The very design of hospitals is isolating. It takes people from their homes into a fake environment surrounded by strangers. Maybe we should consider doing more care for people at home surrounded by their dear family members instead of always getting people to go to a hospital. Then they can feel happier as they are at home.

There is a big economic gap in most countries in the Global south, the rich are becoming richer and the poor are at the same level. It’s true the environment where people are treated from isn’t good but I think advocating for better environments to be established by the Government will be good because the poor will afford to access the health facilities, considering care for people at home surrounded by their dear families will be inefficient because not all family members are doctors, it would so appear difficult for the doctors to move to people’s homes to give care to the patients . The other challenging bit would be the strategy of caring for people with their family environment will favour only the rich and the poor will be left un attended to.
(Alfred (Uganda) at July 27, 2017 8:45 am)
Care at home can be more comfortable in situations where the care needed is straightforward. Hospitals for complex needs.
(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 11:26 am)
In an ideal world, the first choice of most people would be to have their friends and family around them in hospital. But that isn’t always possible, and for a sick person to be without any help or assistance – and often food as a result – is a terrible situation that needs to be avoided at all costs. In those situations I feel the responsibility does fall on the government and local councils to help the neediest, making sure that no one goes without. This will bring benefits all round, not only in providing the necessary help, but in aiding a speedier recovery for the ill and freeing up much-needed bed space sooner. This is a crucial responsibility that can’t be ignored.
(Helen Huth (UK) at July 27, 2017 12:08 pm)
I think it is the government reason being they have to ensure that the health facilities are enough most especially the infrastructure for this can create a healthy environment for patients and doctors too where it can avoid patients from acquiring more diseases in the hospitals

As long as the patients are patient care comes to them easily because there are some patients who dont give time to the Doctors to help them they want quick help
(Amil (Uganda) at July 27, 2017 11:34 am)
Amil, a very good observation. If the problem is not a threat to life, people need to be patient. The doctors have much work.
(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 11:43 am)

(Henry Uganda at July 27, 2017 11:58 am)

(christopher (uganda) at July 27, 2017 12:07 pm)
people should be taken to hospital because when they stay away from Hospitals they dont get the best care from the doctors
(Hanifa(uganda) at July 27, 2017 12:34 pm)
I think its not the Government to provide care in the Hospitals, Doctors and Nurses are responsible for the care to patients in the hospitals. However, the Government should provide equal health facilities across the country so that every person can have same services without isolation because when it comes to pay Tax, everyone face the consequences.

What if the people themselves and the hospital is corrupt what should be done
(Mark(Sudan) at July 8, 2017 1:15 pm)

Its the government to take the responsibility like wise tje people too have to make sure that they handle all whats provided to them with care. But all in all a government of our type uganda for things concerning securitg, its ok theycan care but health wise no one cares including minister of health. This isnot being biased but its the truth people
(Steve ( ug) at July 27, 2017 10:46 am)

(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 11:28 am)

true the families should take care of us but the first medical care and bills should be done by the government since we pay taxes

(Caroline[uganda] at July 27, 2017 12:31 pm)
yes, the government should ensure proper remuneration to the health workers aslong as proper health facilities. this will encourage drive for value for money and hence better health services.
(Paul[uganda] at July 27, 2017 12:38 pm)
The government should be responsible as well as the family members too.
(Birungi(uganda) at July 27, 2017 12:39 pm)
But not everyone pays #taxes. Who is responsible for their medical #care? And if they have no #family? Does #government have resources?
(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 12:40 pm)
citizens should have their country at heart and recall that they are part of the government too, thus work all possible ways to ensure effective health services.
(Paul[uganda] at July 27, 2017 12:44 pm)
Paul, do you think the citizens by not getting services like medical care means they dont have their ciuntry at heart? Or its the responsibility of the government to provide the best to the citizens. For sure however patriotic one might be with out the governments having their people at heart and putting finances in areas like health insteady of every thing in security, then there will be no prosperity in the very country.
(Bazibu Steve ( ug) at July 27, 2017 12:55 pm)
Without spending on #security, can the #government keep the people safe? Money needed for #healthcare but at the cost of what else?
(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 1:01 pm)
The government should add more medical facilites in hospitals and also be given out to patients .
(mercy(Ugnada) at July 27, 2017 1:03 pm)
The government should carry out proper investigations in hospitals among their health workers because some tend to be medics and yet not and they should also encourage good morals among the medics in hospitals so as to avoid disputes among the patients and themselves.
(maureen(Ugnada) at July 27, 2017 1:09 pm)

If the government is people who then should improve if it has completely failed
(Godfrey(Uganda) at July 8, 2017 1:16 pm)
The Governement is structured in a way that they have a system of service delivery, they work with the central Government to provide services to the people however couple of times the central Government hasnt seriously taken its responsibilities to monitor and find out if the services are reaching the people. A common example in a particular country like Uganda, patients are raising concerns that when they go to the hospitals, they are not given the care they need and in most cases they are isolated. This needs to be addressed however the approach has to be an up to bottow approach, enact laws that penalise whoever doesnt give care and isolates patients in the hospitals. The central Government has to be made aware that its their duty to ensure that patients get adequate services and are not isolated at all, by empasising on this we shall have less mortality rates and people will develop trust and passion for their Government. It would be good to know if this is a common phenomenon in other countries in the Developing world as well. Thanks.
(ALFRED(SOUTH AMERICA) at July 27, 2017 6:52 am)
Its the responsibility of the government to provide services to the people of that very country because they pay taxes and fit to be plamned for however they also have to protect and use these services with out any discrimination. Some times its a pity because many of our governments insteady priotise and put all powers and finances in security.
(Bazibu Steve ( ug) at July 27, 2017 10:57 am)
Bazibu, where do you think the taxes go? Are people paying for #healthcare by paying tax, but not receiving the care when they need it?
(Chaffinch at July 27, 2017 11:34 am)
Yes, its because the government was set up to help people in the hospital.
