For sure yes there should be a limit. Some people have too much money while others have so little. When you have enough why not share it?

(Gary USA at October 15, 2018 5:02 pm)

No! Innovation and world development will stagnate. Private benefit is a motivator to human progress

(Muwanga Moses Uagnda at October 24, 2018 6:55 pm)

People shouldn’t have a limit on how rich they could be. But they need to be taxed fairly and encouraged to spend which would help others. There should be a limit on credit. Or how much you can owe. Or you should never have to pay back too high a percentage. On a loan.
But there should be a limit to poverty.

(Leigh UK at October 24, 2018 6:56 pm)

For sure we need a limit. Otherwise the people with money keep getting richer and those without poorer. Surely there comes a point where your wealth is enough?

(Darby at October 25, 2018 4:56 am)

No the rich people help a lot the poor people because many private schools and hospital belong to the rich where poor people go for treatment

(Owori(Uganda) at October 25, 2018 11:18 am)

But what if the rich people didnt have to help but instead the people had their own monies? Isn’t that better???

(Wendy uk at October 25, 2018 11:35 am)

But taxes don’t go to the poorest people they go to the government who eat the money so it solves nothing

(Winnie, Uganda at October 25, 2018 11:56 am)

At a talk I went to this week they said that the 8 richest men have the same wealth as the 50% poorest people in the country combined – shocking! They then told us that one of those men is Bill Gates who has used his wealth to improve many peoples lives e.g. By funding work on reducing malaria. It is not only about how much people earn but how they choose to spend their wealth.

(Lis UK at October 28, 2018 5:51 pm)

I think the concern here is more about unequal distribution and access to social wealth and other resources! We need to build social / governance systems that allow for equal distribution and access to resources such education, healthcare, information, clean water, micro credit, access to justice and social protection, social security, etc. If fair levels equality in access to resources can be achieved or improved…i believe that will gradually allow individuals to exploit their potential to the fullest… innovation then becomes the yardstick for how far you can go…

Yes because some people use witchcraft to get rich so there should be a limit on how rich people can be.

There are rich people who have money but when the money doesnt benifit even. He could be with money but no deveopment idea for example he doesnt buy land or build a house he stays renting. So that means such people have to be limited on their rich

The rich tend to brag a lot and take badly

(Emma Uganda at October 25, 2018 12:46 pm)

There should be no limit. Because for example a poor person could have a relative die very far away without any transport means neither money to bury them. So if there is a rich person in the community they could go for assitance who might have some connections to help.

I would definitely say YES with the relevant examples, the poor are becoming poorer while the rich richer , basing on the unfair system of governance characterized by briberies, embezzlement and misappropriation of funds . “ lack of democracy” and others prevailing in some communities

It depends on how you manage your money. Now the rich save and the poor mismanage their money. That’s why they end up poor.

The poor an unable to teach their children so they are unable to get good jobs for example in the bank. This is bad – you could end up stealing to survive.

(Marvin, Uganda at October 25, 2018 12:25 pm)

Saving is a good practice even if you are earning a thousand a day – by the end of the two weeks you’ll be with something which is about twenty thousand.

(James, Uganda at October 25, 2018 12:25 pm)

Money makes things fine and makes people happy but if you limit someone’s wealth then you are limiting how ahppy they can be

(Anonymous at October 25, 2018 12:14 pm)

It’s great that some people are sharing and helping people who don’t have as much money. What would the world be like if every rich person did this and not just a very small percentage of them?

(Daniel, UK at October 25, 2018 12:29 pm)

Yes because rich people disturb people and the community by confiscating their property say land. So they make the community people to suffer, cry just because they have money. You can have your plot then they just come saying this is the plan fo the plot and they just take it.

No because people should get rewards for what they work hard.
Also, if people are rich, they can do many things in order to contribute the society, or for unfortunate people.
I don’t think there should be the limit, but rich people need to think how they use their money and take actions for contribution.

What if they choose to keep the money and not to help others well? What could we do?

(Henry uganda at October 25, 2018 11:33 am)

I don’t like the idea of limiting how much money people can have – I’d prefer to have better controls in place to either make sure the richest people get taxed more fairly to help out others who don’t have as much or to ensure wealth doesn’t become a birthright.

(Daniel, UK at October 25, 2018 11:44 am)

I agree with Daniel. If rich people just try to keep their money, there should be systems or rules for making wealth equal among any people, like taxation.
But it would be better they do contribute by their own choices.

If we want the kind of society where everyone has a home, can feed themselves and their families, which should be the case, then there needs to be a more equal distribution of wealth. The basics of most companies, the bottom line is reaching a certain profit margin which means you have to undercut people at almost every point.

There should be a limit on wealth and the wealth could be shared with the poor (the excess part). Since there are many who are vulnerable and poor sharing with them is important so they can cope up with the challenges in their life.

Yes.

The rich aren’t just getting richer while the poor are getting poorer – they’re getting richer BECAUSE the poor are getting poorer.

Individuals don’t need 9 zeros in the bank, and significant structural steps should be taken to correct this gross socioeconomic injustice.

Inflation and relativity would, in time, make it so that the limit is not really the limit anymore, it wouldnt really work. But it would be good if it would work, the huge difference in money wouldnt be so big, and noone really gets the chance to take over others opportunities

The salary for the poor should be a decent wage i.e. in the factories some people are overexploited but they don’t have enough money to meet their basic needs.

(Alfred Uganda at October 25, 2018 11:10 am)

They help those in need for example they may provide free transport in case of any need by the poor people

(Marvin. Uganda at October 25, 2018 12:10 pm)

Rich people offer education and opportunities to young vulnerable children therefore there should not be a limit. They also help to establish jobs and houses.

(Patrick Uganda at October 25, 2018 12:36 pm)

No they should not have a limit put on wealth because this will motivate everyone to work hard and reach their standards of being rich

How does it affect people’s freedom to have more or less money other than to buy or bribe your way out of situations?

(Curious at October 22, 2018 8:18 pm)

Everyone should be free. But the poor often have their property like land stolen by the rich.

(Isabirye at October 25, 2018 11:57 am)

They should not have a limit because they improve our transport system.

(Kitongo at October 25, 2018 12:01 pm)

A lot of corruption even in the courts of law are done by the rich against the poor so there should be some limit to help not to oppress the poor.

(Edwin at October 25, 2018 12:05 pm)

No because everyone knows how he handles his money so if you fail to manage it very well that means its upon you. That’s why I like and encourage free market economy

(Faisal, Uganda at October 25, 2018 12:26 pm)

Rich people help the government to make plans

(Jack, Jinja at October 25, 2018 12:32 pm)

There should be a limit because the rich are involved in land grabbing from the poor.

(Fox, Jinja at October 25, 2018 12:35 pm)
